Routine Progress Report/Some Updates/Karma
Progress:
So i've hit the halfway mark... ~12000 pushups and ~10000 body weight squats. I can definately see and feel a huge difference. Imagine that, a month and a half of dedicated work and so much has improved. The down side, however, is that I will be taking a small break from this routine as I can feel the strain I've been putting on my joints. I'll be extending the goal to the end of March, not February. On the up side, I've been running track around 4 times a week now at least. My endurance is even better than it was in the summer. I have also done little to no Parkour in the past few months... been keeping to low impact conditioning for now. We'll see how all of this pays off in the summer when I start to PK on a constant basis again.
Update 1 - Fencing
Fancy this.... in my spare time I do Fencing with my University team. Last week we had tryouts for the 4 person provincial school team so I decided, what the hey... I'll attempt it... it should be fun (Keeping in mind I show up and practice much less than majority of the people there). So, yesterday I show up to practice to find out I made 5th spot (aka sub/floater). This means that if anyone is unable to do a bout, I will step in. This was actually quite a shocker as I didn't even expect to make anything on the team. I'm excited to see how this pans out.
Update 2 - Karma (Good deeds don't go unnoticed)
Karma. Some people believe in it, others don't. Today I went to an on-campus convenience store to pick up a "Breakfast-to-go" shake. I pick it and go to the cashier. We exchange "hellos" and "how are yous" and she rings up the total. I pull out my wallet to find I only have a $50 bill.... no change, nothing (well, not nothing.... it was more like ~78cents). So I ask, "Do you guys accept $50 bills?" and she replies "no, sorry we don't... there is a bank machine around the corner if you need to get a smaller bill". I don't have any money in my bank account and I reply as such. To which I then say "Sorry about that, I guess I'll come back a little later to get it when I get smaller change". You know what she does then? She goes and says, "you know what, take it, I'll pay for it for you". And she does. I was actually shocked... that was really not needed as I could have easily gone somewhere to get change. I thank her graciously and give her all the coins I have left in my wallet. As I'm walking away I hear the other cashier ask "why did you do that?!"... to which my cashier replied "he was a nice guy... it's called karma".
If I ever see that girl again I will thank her once more and take her for a coffee or something. She was such a sweetheart. I love people like that. Small gestures go long ways.
