Off Again/Training Update
Off Again:
It's about that time again.... I'm am pretty close to leaving once more! I can't wait... if I thought last year's trip was awesome, the next 6 more months is going to be incredible. My initial plan was to be leaving to Zhengzhou on July 4th or 5th, but due to complications such as an ankle sprain a number of weeks ago, VISA issues (mostly not receiving proper documentation from my school in Shanghai on time), and other things, it looks like I will be more likely to leave around the 14th.
That will leave me with less time than I had hoped to train there for, but some is better than none. Thankfully my VISA came in for the full 6 months, as it looked a little dim at one point due to the increased security for the Olympics. Wouldn't you think the sheer magnitude of people that are going to be in that city would be security enough? It would be impossible to even walk in the street. I may try to visit it, but in all likelihood I won't even be able to enter the outskirts because of the traffic and mass population. The new kung fu facility is going to be a ton of fun.
Training Update:
Training has been a downer as I can only do so much with my ankle sprain. I am too worried of reinjuring it again. Obviously upper body work has been the main goal, but you can only train one area so much before it tires. I had a hard hit the other day when a friend took me through an intense 10-minute upper body routine and I wasn't able to keep up... the stuff that I should have been completing easily, and quickly I was struggling more than I should have, and the stuff that I knew I wouldn't complete all the way through was just pathetic. It was a mixture of mentality and tired muscles that did it. Though those shouldn't really be used as an excuse. However, as long as my ankles are nice and strong for Zhengzhou, it will be worth it.
