Pre-Departure Training Session

Before I leave to Zhengzhou I wanted to get in a final meet with the local scene yesterday. Turned out to be awesome. We first met at our regular Thursday weekly location and then moved over to the new Parkour facility that's just about complete. When there, we went through quite an intense workout. It is rumoured (actually, not rumoured... this is true) that the cast of 300 went through this training routine as only part (they had a lot of other routines that were harder than this as well) of their bulking for the movie. It is called Sevens and goes as follows:

Seven excercises, performed seven times, with seven reps each. The original Sevens routine though is apparently 13 reps per exercise, seven times... making for just about 640 total reps. Dan decided to make it easier, and a true Sevens routine so he dropped it to seven reps each exercise. The exercises are such in order of how we did them (if I remembered it right haha):

1) Squats x 7 reps (at 135lbs or Jump Squats with 35lb weight vest)
2) Pullups x 7 reps
3) Pushups x 7 reps
4) Windshield Wipers for abs x 7 reps (one rep is back and forth)
5) Up and Down a Flight of Stairs with 50lb Weight (either medicine ball or weight vest) x 7 reps (one rep is up and down)
6) Box Jumps x 7 reps
7) Shoulder Presses x 7 reps (at 65lbs if I remember correct)

Hardest part for me was doing the pullups wide grip, and the weighted stairs exercise. I felt pretty sore this morning when I woke up, but it was a great workout nonetheless. My ankle is feeling much better and is definitely ready for the training in Zhengzhou... yesterday proved it for me. I'll just have to keep an eye on it so I don't reinjure it.

I am leaving tomorrow morning at 9am.... wow, am I ready? haha
